Contactless Covid Testing center
The Covid 19 pandemic is not just a health catastrophe, it has affected and influenced every situation in our lives and has changed our lifestyle forever. Wearing a mask, maintaining social distance, following proper hygiene can help prevent the spread of the virus. Apart from following these measures, testing for the covid 19 virus is crucial, even for the ones who don’t show any symptoms, as there have been numerous cases of asymptomatic covid-19 infection. The current ways of testing for the infection are limited to hospitals, laboratories and testing booths and these all are manual so here we are going to covid testing center automation to check covid patients automatically contactless testing at booth.
As of now, At covid testing places, there are several numbers of steps to be followed for the testing process.
The steps include
- manually registering the name and address and contact information of the patient to be tested.
- Then, manually taking a swab of the patient for the test.
- Adding the swab sample number and registration details of the patient in the system.
- Dispatching the swab samples and other relevant information to the lab for testing, which is usually situated at a different location.
- Conveying the results to the patient.
- We must keep in mind that all these steps have to be carried out manually.
Hence, such an environment is not safe and with the increase in covid cases, these methods will not be feasible.
With IoT being a rapid developing field, in this project, we have proposed a complete contactless covid testing booth based on IoT.
Here, the system automatically tests the patient for covid-19 virus. The system uses a camera module and speakers which are connected to a Raspberry-pi controller and operating circuit over IoT.
A keypad and button controller is used to create an interface between the system and the patient to be tested. This system completely isolates the patient and the examining officer.
Hence, this system makes the testing process faster and error-free.

Working of Covid Testing center automation system
- System instantly completes the registration process by capturing images of the patient and scanning Aadhar card.
- Patient enters the sample number with the help of keypad interface.
- Next person is called forward with the help of speakers.
- The sample number is transferred over to the lab for testing with the help of IoT.
- The examining officer can update or check the number of samples in real time and at the same time, they can update the results of the previous tests.
- As soon as the results are updated, a message is instantly sent to the patient, informing them about the result, over IoT.
Therefore, with the help of IoT, we have created a system which helps in generating automatic covid-19 testing booth, which is completely contactless and saves a lot of time. This system is perfect for places where covid cases are increasing rapidly day by day.

Disadvantages
- Initial installation charges may be high
- Some people like children and senior citizens might face difficulty in using the keypad/touchpad interface.
